51 Piper Alderman lawyers recognised in The Best Lawyers® in Australia, 2022 edition

The Best Lawyers® in Australia has announced today that 51 Piper Alderman lawyers have been recognised in the 2022 edition across 42 practice areas in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney, with seven partners recognised for the first time in this edition. Five of the firm’s partners have also been awarded “Lawyer of the Year” in their respective areas and cities.

Managing Partner, Tony Britten-Jones commented on the announcement:

“Our recognition in Best Lawyers is testament to the talented partners and lawyers we have at Piper Alderman.  Recognised in their respective fields as experts in their area of practice, the 50% increase in our number of recognised lawyers since the 2017 edition is indicative of the firm’s growth and journey over the last 6 years. For the first time in the firm’s history, Piper Alderman has received five “Lawyer of the Year” awards including two titles in Brisbane, which is also a first for the firm.  The partners include:

Andrew Rankin, awarded ‘Brisbane Lawyer of the Year’ for Competition Law stated:

“I am thrilled and humbled to be recognised by my peers in the profession for the Competition Law ‘Lawyer of the Year’ award. It’s a great honour to receive such an award for doing what I enjoy – advising on interesting and complex competition law matters for clients”.

Of the 51 recognised lawyers, seven partners make their ‘Best Lawyers’ debut in the 2022 edition including Mark Askin, Donna Benge, Nick Burkett, Tom Griffith, Bianca Jennings, Rod Jones and Ben Motro.

Newly recognised ‘Best Lawyer’ Bianca Jennings remarked:

Recognised lawyers marking their 10th anniversary in ‘Best Lawyers’ include:

  • Geoff Emmett – first recognised in the 2013 edition for Construction / Infrastructure Law
  • David Ey – first recognised in the 2013 edition for Labour and Employment Law
  • Ashley Watson – first recognised in the 2013 edition for Planning and Environmental Law
