Piper Alderman featured in Digital Economy Strategy 2030

13/05/2021

As part of the Australian Government’s Federal Budget 2021, the Prime Minister has released its Digital Economy Strategy 2030.

Piper Alderman is profiled as a mini case study in the report for our recent work with Lygon, becoming the first legal firm to execute a blockchain-based payment guarantee in a commercial contract.  The case study also highlights that Piper Alderman was one of the first major law firms to accept digital currencies in early 2018.

Partner Michael Bacina, who is the driving force behind Piper Alderman’s work in the blockchain sector said:

“Blockchain is often referred to as a technology which will change the world.  That change and adoption is now gaining traction and Piper Alderman is playing a small part in leading the way.

“I’m honoured that the Federal Government has shown us as a case study in Blockchain adoption. Piper Alderman works hard to foster a culture of innovation and collaboration, which Blockchain helps enhance, in turn helping us to deliver better outcomes for our clients.”

Piper Alderman’s case study can be read on page 59 and the full report is available for download here on Australia’s Digital Economy website.
