Piper Alderman survey reveals employers cautious about Covid-19 vaccine mandates

18/10/2021

A national survey conducted by Piper Alderman, which received coverage in today’s The Australian, found that more than 40 per cent of the country’s large employers have introduced or are planning to introduce mandatory Covid-19 vaccinations for employees.

Piper Alderman employment relations partner Joe Murphy has responded to the survey results by urging employers to undertake their own risk assessment and start developing a vaccination policy in consultation with their employees.

Joe said:

“Businesses have two primary concerns in considering the introduction of mandatory vaccinations – being able to stay in business and operate profitably, and the health and safety of their employees, customers and visitors.”

Piper Alderman is currently advising a range of clients on their tailored vaccination policies with key considerations including state government mandates, risk profile, location, industry and the size and complexity of their workforce.
