National law firm, Piper Alderman, welcomes a new Planning and Environment team in the Sydney office, comprising partner Paul Vergotis, special counsel Alicia Chryssochoides and a Foreign Legal Associate.

Paul and his team specialise in planning, environment and local government law, including litigation in the Land and Environment Court of New South Wales, compulsory acquisitions, civil and criminal prosecutions, heritage matters and due diligence advice work.

Commenting on his decision to join Piper Alderman, Paul said:

“Piper Alderman, as a full service national law firm, offers great opportunities to expand and grow the planning and environment practice. I am very much looking forward to providing clients with a complete and comprehensive planning and environment law offering.”

Paul has provided advice in the areas of town planning, environmental compliance and corporate governance to many private organisations and public authorities for over 20 years and has acted for numerous local councils in NSW during his career.

Special counsel, Alicia Chryssochoides, has worked with Paul for a number of years and has comprehensive experience in all facets of planning and environment law. Like Paul, Alicia has acted for private entities as well as local government authorities.

Paul and his team join former colleague and recently appointed partner, Marcus Andrews in the Sydney office; in addition to existing Sydney based partners Richard Abbott and Margot King. Piper Alderman’s national Real Estate team led by Mark Askin and Adam Rinaldi, now boasts 12 partners.

Piper Alderman’s Managing Partner, Tony Britten-Jones commented on Paul and his team joining the firm:

“We are delighted to welcome Paul and his team to the firm in our Sydney office, following the recent addition of Marcus Andrews to the team. Paul and Marcus have worked together for many years and we look forward to the new dynamic in our Sydney real estate team.”
