Session 1: Handling the Dysfunctional Board

A dysfunctional board is often unable to create clarity around their direction and priorities and cannot align directors around common objectives. They move forward with hesitation and are unable to learn from mistakes resulting in poor performance, at the board and business level. In this session, panellists will discuss how to recognise, break and prevent dysfunctional behaviour. Key topics including managing dissatisfaction within the board, role of the lawyer in a dysfunctional board and methods to reach board decisions whilst encouraging debate. Our panellists will share war stories and bring their unique personal experiences and expertise to the discussion.
