James is an expert specialising in complex damages issues in contentious matters, in both litigation in national courts and international arbitrations. He has over 20 years’ experience across EMEA, North America, and Asia-Pacific, advising governments, corporations, and individuals on disputes up to US$2 billion. James holds degrees from Oxford and Imperial College London, is a CFA Charterholder, and serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal for Damages in International Arbitration and has acted as an expert witness at training workshops organised by the Foundation for International Advocacy.

Lucy is an independent arbitrator with extensive experience as presiding, co-, sole, or emergency arbitrator in international disputes, governed by laws of Argentina, Australia, Bulgaria, England & Wales, Hong Kong, India, New York, Singapore, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, Venezuela, Washington State, and public/private international law in a variety of sectors including banking, construction, energy (oil, gas, electricity, mining), finance, gambling, hospitality, hotel management, insurance and reinsurance, leisure sectors, life sciences, satellite technology, travel software, shipping, sports, supply of goods, telecommunications, trademarks, and travel software.

Tim has a commercial practice with a focus on infrastructure, oil & gas, energy, resources and major construction & engineering projects. He also acts in general commercial disputes, particularly those involving issues of contract law, misrepresentation and professional negligence. He appears in commercial courts throughout Australia and in international arbitrations in the Asia-Pacific region under arbitral rules including UNCITRAL, ICC, SIAC and ACICA.

Cris Cureton has over three decades’ experience advising governments, utilities and major contractors on major LNG, mining, power, rail and hospital projects and related disputes across Australia.

He has participated in national status projects including the Alice Springs to Darwin Railway, the Bonaparte Gas Pipeline, Sydney Metro West, and Defence base and material procurement projects.

Cris has conducted a number of significant building defect cases. Given his depth of industry knowledge and policy understanding the Northern Territory government commissioned Cris to undertake an independent review and public report on building industry regulation in the Northern Territory.

Cris leads an active disputes and arbitration team in Sydney with approximately AU$1 billion of disputes under management. Cris led the successful obtaining of an injunction preventing what is understood to be the largest security bond call made in Australia.

Cris has also been annually named one of Australia’s leading litigation lawyers by Best Lawyers from 2010 to 2020.
