Piper Alderman advises Epic Energy on renewables investment in 220MWh battery

Piper Alderman has advised leading energy infrastructure company, Epic Energy, on its investment in a 220MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project at Mannum, worth approximately $130 million.
This project, which is located 90 kilometres east of Adelaide and adjacent to Epic Energy’s two solar farms at Mannum, will provide approximately 220 MWh DC of energy storage using high-cycle capacity lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) cells to support the state’s ongoing renewable energy transition. Using technology provided by Canadian Solar subsidiary e-STORAGE, construction of the project will commence in the second quarter of 2024, with completion expected in the second half of 2025. This will provide essential energy storage to support the supply of excess renewable energy to the grid during peak periods, ultimately enhancing overall energy stability for Australian consumers.
