Compliance with ethical duties is crucial for all legal practitioners, in particular for in-house counsel where the need comply with these duties while also fulfilling the other aspects of the in-counsel’s role in the organisation may sometimes create tension. Join us for an engaging webinar where we will explore and discuss some of the major ethical obligations and challenges faced by in-house counsel.

This session will provide:

  • an overview of the ethical duties of in-house counsel, including requirements around independence
  • a refresher of the requirements around maintaining legal professional privilege within the in-house context including recent cases where legal professional privilege was lost
  • a discussion of recent examples from cases, government inquiries and Royal Commissions where the conduct of in-house counsel was called into question or the difficulties often faced by in-house counsel were highlighted, together with suggested lessons learned.

Attendees will leave with insights and practical guidance to assist them to more effectively manage the challenges faced by in-house counsel in managing their ethical obligations.

This session will be relevant for all in-house legal counsel.

This webinar is open to all organisations, excluding other legal service providers.
