Cheryl advises on all areas of insolvency, and has worked on several high profile cases including proceedings brought by the ACCC against the AMI companies in administration, the administration of companies within the St Hilliers Group, the administration of BC3 Thoroughbreds Pty Ltd and van Eyk Research Pty Ltd.

Cheryl has also worked on a number of large litigation cases, including the rebuilding of the James Hardie insurance program, proceedings in London in relation to the collapse of HIH Insurance, three major proceedings for NSW Lotteries and a major class action against two former superannuation companies.

Commenting on her decision to join Piper Alderman, Cheryl said:

“Piper Alderman’s insolvency team, led by Michael Lhuede in Melbourne, has an outstanding reputation in the market. Moving to a national firm provides my clients with access to a national team of insolvency experts. I am looking forward to this next chapter with Pipers.”

Cheryl joins the national insolvency team in Sydney with partners Thomas Russell and recently promoted partner, Angelina Kozary. The team is led by Michael Lhuede in Melbourne and includes partners Joanne Hardwick (Melbourne) and Mike Hayes(Adelaide) who was recently appointed to the national board as the South Australian representative for the Australian Restructuring Insolvency & Turnaround Association(ARITA).

Managing Partner, Tony Britten-Jones, said he was delighted to welcome a practitioner of Cheryl’s calibre and market reputation to the team.

“Our national insolvency team continues its growth with Cheryl’s appointment. Since April 2018, we have appointed three new partners in the insolvency team and a new special counsel. Insolvency & Reconstruction law has been a strategic focus of Piper Alderman for some time and Cheryl’s appointment will further enhance our offering in this regard.”
