Piper Alderman welcomes 7 new partners in Sydney office

Leading national law firm Piper Alderman, is delighted to announce the appointment of 7 new Partners to its Sydney office, with effect from 3 March 2025, taking the firm’s partnership numbers to over 90.

The seven new Partners are Campbell Davidson, Cris Cureton, Brent Henderson, Richard Horton, Hai-Dang Nguyen, David Starkoff and Olena Brodovska, joining with their teams to mark a total of 16 new appointments at Piper Alderman.

Corporate

Campbell Davidson, Richard Horton and Olena Brodovska have joined the national Corporate team as Partners.

Campbell Davidson

Campbell has been in practice for more than 30 years, advising clients on mergers and acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures, foreign investment, directors’ duties, and a wide range of commercial matters. Having worked as a corporate lawyer in Australia, Asia and the UK, he has significant experience in cross-border transactions.

Campbell has been recognised by Best Lawyers in Australia for Equity Capital Markets in the 2022, 2023 and 2025 editions.

Richard Horton

Richard has over 25 years of experience in corporate, commercial, and technology law, representing a diverse client base of startup and later stage tech companies across Australia, including large tech companies from the United States doing business in Australia, as well as various Australian and US venture capital and private equity funds.  

Richard advises on a range of corporate and commercial matters, including venture capital and strategic financing, private equity, tech sector mergers and acquisitions, IPOs, intellectual property, and international manufacturing and distribution transactions.

Olena Brodovska

Olena is a dual-qualified corporate and commercial lawyer with over 20 years of experience, having practiced in Australia and Ukraine. Olena specialises in the technology sector, and has advised on a diverse range of corporate and commercial matters including mergers and acquisitions, fundraising, corporate governance, commercial contracts and transactions, intellectual property, privacy, and data protection. She also has strong background in property and development, and public law.

In addition to the Partner appointments, the national Corporate team welcomes two associates, a lawyer and legal administrative assistant.

 

Projects, Infrastructure & Construction

Cris Cureton, Brent Henderson, and David Starkoff have joined as Partners in the national Projects, Infrastructure & Construction team, further strengthening the firm’s expertise and expanding its service offerings.

Cris Cureton

Cris has over three decades of experience advising governments, utilities and major contractors on LNG, mining, power, rail and hospital projects, and related disputes across Australia.

Cris has been recognised as a leading lawyer in litigation, dispute resolution and construction/ infrastructure law by The Best Lawyers in Australia from 2010 to 2020. He has worked on some of Australia’s largest property, construction and engineering projects.

Brent Henderson

Brent has over two decades of experience advising on high-profile and complex construction and infrastructure projects, including those in the transport, technology, defence, energy and water sectors. Brent advises primarily on front end of construction and infrastructure projects, with particular expertise in assisting clients on project delivery support and claims management.

Brent has been recognised annually since 2023 by The Best Lawyers in Australia for Construction/ Infrastructure Law.

David Starkoff

David has more than two decades of experience in the construction, infrastructure and energy sectors. He specialises in international dispute resolution, competition (antitrust) and regulatory issues. David has a strong background in handling complex legal matters, including Supreme Court litigation, commercial arbitration, and regulatory enforcement. His expertise extends to advising on transaction structuring and obtaining merger clearances.

David has been recognised in the 2023, 2024, and 2025 editions of The Best Lawyers in Australia for Litigation Law.

Special Counsel Vicky Kossaris, based in the Melbourne office, also joins the Projects, Infrastructure & Construction team in addition to an associate, law graduate and a legal administrative assistant.

 

Financial Services and FinTech

Hai-Dang Nguyen has joined as a Partner in the Financial Services and FinTech team.

Hai-Dang has over 25 years of experience advising on all types of financing transactions, with a particular focus on property finance and investment, project finance, acquisition and leveraged finance, structured finance, and general corporate lending. He also advises on structured investments, hedging and other derivative transactions, financial restructuring, and financial regulation.

Hai-Dang was named Winner of the Banking and Finance Partner of the Year at the 2020 Lawyers Weekly Partner of the Year Awards.
