Private Client Services – Welcome to 2025

17/01/2025

As we step into 2025, our Private Client Services team is excited to build on the momentum of a busy and successful 2024. Last year was filled with significant achievements, including numerous high-profile cases and the expansion of our service offerings. We are eager to continue delivering exceptional service and innovative solutions to our clients in the year ahead.

This year brings important changes with the introduction of the new Succession Act (SA) and Probate Rules. These legislative updates will have a significant impact on estate planning, the administration of deceased estates and dispute resolution.  Our team is well-prepared to navigate these changes, ensuring our clients are fully informed and supported through these transitions. We will be hosting a series of seminars and workshops to help our clients understand the implications of these new laws and how they can best protect their interests.

We are also proud to announce that partners, Rod Jones and Donna Benge, will be representing Piper Alderman at the STEP World Congress in Rome in February. This prestigious event brings together leading professionals in the field of private client services and family wealth advisory from around the world.  Rod and Donna’s participation underscores our commitment to staying at the forefront of global developments and sharing our expertise on an international stage.

Rod and Donna are also assisting to finalise the annual STEP Trusts Symposium 2025 to be held at the Hilton Hotel on 7 March where Rod will chair sessions to be presented by His Honour Judge Michael Burnett of the District Court (SA) and The Honourable Justice Ben Doyle of the Supreme Court (SA).  Piper Alderman will again sponsor this nationally regarded event.

Additionally, the upcoming Federal Election may have significant implications for our clients. We are closely monitoring the future of the current government’s stalled changes to the taxation of superannuation funds and the taxation of unrealised capital gains. These potential changes could have far-reaching effects on our clients’ financial planning and estate strategies. Our team is dedicated to providing timely and strategic advice to help our clients navigate those questions.

Stay tuned for more updates and insights from Piper Alderman’s Private Client Services team. We look forward to a prosperous and impactful 2025, continuing to serve our clients with the highest level of professionalism and dedication.
