21/06/2021
Piper Alderman is delighted to announce 20 lawyer promotions across the firm with effect from 1 July 2021, including two new partners and three special counsel.
Our two newly appointed partners are Carlyna Chhen in Melbourne and Jonathan Dodd in Adelaide, both in the national real estate team.
Managing Partner, Tony Britten-Jones commented:
“We are delighted to welcome Carlyna and Jonathan to the partnership, taking our national partner numbers to 85. Their promotions, along with our new special counsel, senior associates and associates, are testament to our firm’s mantra of ‘attract, train and retain’, creating an environment where individuals can flourish but are supported.”
Carlyna joined the firm in June 2018 as Special Counsel, specialising in commercial property transactions and agribusiness. Carlyna advises on all aspects of property sales and acquisitions, and retail, commercial, industrial and agricultural leases. She acts for a broad range of clients in the public and private sectors, including investment funds managers, overseas investors, major corporations, private client groups, property developers, landlords and tenants.
Jonathan started his career with Piper Alderman in 2006 and has developed expertise working with Geoff Forbes in advising liquor and hospitality industry clients in business acquisitions and disposals, leasing, and liquor and gaming licensing matters. Jon has leveraged his expertise in compliance and works with substantial retailers on a range of contractual and property issues.
Since February this year, Piper Alderman has been focussing on its growth through a range of lateral partner hires including Lis Boyce, Joel Shaw, Joe Murphy, Richard Abbott and Karyn Reardon. The recent promotions will further solidify the firm’s growth strategy for 2021.
Mr Britten-Jones, further commented:
“Over the last five years, we have achieved significant growth, from an even blend of organic growth, lateral hires and smaller merger and acquisition actions. We will continue to focus on moderate growth in 2021 and support all of our new partners successfully settling into the firm.”
