Commenting on his decision to join Piper Alderman, Joe said:

“Decisions involving making a move like this are all about timing.  The time was right for me and the firm.  For me, there’s a kindred feeling about joining Piper Alderman.”

Joe joins the national employment relations team in Sydney with partners Tim Capelin and Ben Motro.  The national team led by Tim Lange now boasts seven partners across the firm.

Piper Alderman’s Managing Partner, Tony Britten-Jones, said he was delighted to welcome a practitioner of Joe’s calibre to the firm:

“Our national employment relations team had an extremely busy 2020 with the impact of COVID-19 and has started 2021 on a very positive note with the arrival of Joe Murphy.  Joe led his previous team for the past 10 years and we welcome his wealth of knowledge and expertise to the firm.”

Joe is a member of The Law Society of New South Wales, Industrial Relations Society of NSW and admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia.

In the 2021 edition of The Legal 500 Asia Pacific, Joe is recommended for Labour and employment.  Joe has also been recognised by The Best Lawyers® in Australia for Labour and employment law since the 2021 edition and is currently listed in Doyle’s Guide as a Recommended Lawyer for Leading Employment Lawyers (Employer Representation) – NSW, 2021.
