Aged Care Royal Commission: representing a top 30 national aged care provider
Piper Alderman represented a top 30 national aged care provider about initial inquiries made by the Royal Aged Care Commission into its operations and governance.
The aged care systems caters to the needs of people above 65 who cannot live without support. Care is usually provided in people’s homes, communities, and residential aged care facilities (nursing homes). Therefore, our client, a national aged care provider, was required to follow the regulatory frameworks and legal perspectives on clinical governance issues. The commission oversees issues of quality of aged care services, ensures services meet the needs, and proposes incentives for improving the services.
Our team worked against tight deadlines to advise and assist the organization in conducting systematic reviews and evaluating critical incidents during the last 10 years. Piper Alderman’s team prepared detailed summaries for the provider to submit to the commission. Despite having massive work to complete in a short period, the team demonstrated great agility and flexibility. Our client was able to meet the commission’s deadline because of the organization, efficiency, and legal experience demonstrated by the team.
