Corporate advice for innovative rural investment company
Piper Alderman advised FREE Eyre on its corporate and commercial legal needs across its business ventures.
FREE Eyre is an innovative rural investment company based on the Eyre Peninsula. It investigates and co-invests in developing new businesses and value-adding rural enterprises to benefit its 500 shareholders. All investments by the company must meet strict investment and profit criteria, reduce costs along the rural supply chain and ensure competitive tension for the farmer and agribusiness community. The company’s guiding philosophy is to share company profits between shareholders and create additional value by adding investments and opportunities for the farming community.
Piper Alderman has been proud to advise FREE Eyre on its corporate and commercial legal needs across its business ventures. We have advised the company about the proposed Deepwater Port Spencer port terminal, a dedicated multi-user bulk commodity export facility for minerals and agricultural products. FREE Eyre was appointed as the grain operator for the Port Spencer bank feasibility team. The company advises on the planning, design, structure, and ownership of the proposed Port Spencer grain terminal. Piper Alderman’s experience in commercial and corporate legal issues allowed for proper and effective guidance on the Project.

Mark Rodda, Chief Executive Officer
“We have developed a very strong working relationship with Simon Venus and the Piper Alderman team. The depth of expertise at Piper Alderman provides enormous comfort that we will receive wise, timely and commercially sound advice. We know of few legal practices that have a team that truly specialises in, and more importantly ‘understands’, Australian agribusiness.”
