Chambers Asia Pacific Guide, 2022 edition

Chambers and Partners announced its rankings for the Chambers Asia Pacific Guide 2022 and Piper Alderman has been ranked in Band 3 for Dispute Resolution: Class Action – Australia.  This is the first year the Class Actions team has been ranked, with commentary about the practice as follows:

What the team is known for
The Piper Alderman disputes practice focuses significantly on the class action sphere, collaborating regularly with prominent third-party funders to represent plaintiff shareholders or consumers in cases arising from a variety of business and industry sectors. Also acts on other funded litigation mandates, including matters in the areas of construction, insolvency, intellectual property and treaty enforcement. Particularly noted in the market for its handling of audit and insolvency-related cases.

Work highlights
Piper Alderman acted for 46,000 consumers in Federal Court class action proceedings brought against Queensland’s two leading electricity generators for having allegedly engaged in trading strategies designed to create artificial energy scarcity and a consequent spike in prices.
