Piper Alderman advises hotels group on acquisition of craft brewer

07/10/2022

Piper Alderman has advised the hotels and hospitality arm of investment manager, Duxton, on the acquisition of an independent craft brewer, Little Bang Brewing, from its founders in a cash and scip deal as a part of the expansion of Duxton Pubs’ rapidly growing portfolio.

A long-time client of the firm, Duxton is based in South Australia and has established itself as a leading boutique asset manager with a focus that includes Agriculture, Equities and Hospitality.

The Piper Alderman deal team, led by partners Simon Venus and Jonathan Dodd, worked closely with the Duxton Pubs on the buy-side legal aspects of the transaction including due diligence, contract negotiation and completion.

Commenting on the deal, Simon Venus said:

“We were delighted to have been able to work with such a collaborative team and to have played a part in closing this transaction.”

The deal sees the founders’ continuing involvement in the business and will bring natural synergies for expansion for Little Bang Brewing and its beer lines.

Will Brennan, Duxton Pubs Portfolio Manager said:

“The advice provided by Simon and his team throughout the transaction was highly relevant, timely and practical. Their input was integral to the success of the transaction, and we look forward to collaborating on future matters.”
