Piper Alderman announces 12 end of year promotions

Piper Alderman is pleased to announce 12 new promotions across the firm, effective 1 January 2025, including two Special Counsel, one Senior Associate, and nine Associates.
Among those promoted, we are proud to introduce Kara Pennisi as Special Counsel in the Commercial division, based in Brisbane, and Timothy Ward as Special Counsel in the Dispute Resolution and Litigation division, based in Adelaide.
Kara Pennisi
Kara Pennisi joined Piper Alderman as a Senior Associate in 2015, bringing her extensive expertise to a broad range of commercial and property matters across Queensland and New South Wales. Within the firm’s Commercial division, Kara has built an outstanding reputation as a highly skilled and trusted adviser.
Kara has worked with a diverse client base, including national and international corporations, agribusinesses, individuals, and government entities, consistently delivering exceptional results. Notably, she has significant experience in managing and attending to property and commercial transactional matters, providing water law advice, property advice including negotiating easements, registering surveying plans and providing general property and commercial advice.
Timothy (Tim) Ward
Tim Ward joined Piper Alderman’s Adelaide office as a Lawyer in 2011 and has since established a strong reputation within the firm’s Dispute Resolution division. Known for his expertise and trusted counsel, Tim advises on a broad spectrum of matters and manages initial files through to defending complex claims in court.
With extensive experience in Personal Injury Law, Tim specialises in advising (interstate) statutory Compulsory Third Party insurers on claims arising from motor vehicle accidents in South Australia. He also advises on health practitioner regulation matters including conduct complaints, investigations and proceedings, as well as advising general insurers and other clients relating to public liability and claims for damages. Tim also has experience in commercial litigation.
Recognised for his outstanding legal expertise, Tim has been named in the Best Lawyers in Australia – ‘Ones to Watch’ for Alternative Dispute Resolution (Adelaide) in both the 2023 and 2024 editions.
