BRISBANE, 2 July 2026 – National law firm, Piper Alderman, is expanding its national Employment Relations practice with the appointment of Mason Fettell as a Partner in the firm’s Brisbane office, together with his team. The appointment enhances the firm’s national footprint and strengthens its ability to support clients across all major Australian markets.

The Brisbane office will also be joined by Mason’s team, comprising Senior Associates Kelvin Lee and Ashleigh O’Connor, Associate Sarah Kneipp and Paralegal Angelique Seinin, significantly enhancing the firm’s capacity to deliver responsive, high-quality support to clients navigating increasingly complex workplace and regulatory environments.

Mason and his team bring extensive experience advising on employment, workplace health and safety (WHS) and regulatory matters across a broad range of industries. Their addition to our national Employment Relations practice is strongly client-focused, working closely with in-house legal, HR and executive teams to manage risk, respond to critical workplace incidents and deliver practical, commercially aligned outcomes.

Mason and the team are particularly experienced in advising on complex employment and industrial relations disputes, workplace investigations and regulatory compliance, WHS incident response and prosecutions, enterprise bargaining and workforce strategy, and the management of ill and injured workers, terminations and organisational change.

The team’s appointment bolsters Piper Alderman’s national Employment Relations capability, which has a presence across Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. This national footprint enables the firm to deliver consistent advice on federal employment law and jurisdiction-specific workplace health and safety matters, particularly for organisations operating across multiple states.

Commenting on his appointment, Mason Fettell said:

“Piper Alderman’s strong national platform and its clear investment in growing a market-leading Employment Relations practice were key factors in my decision to join the firm. I look forward to working with colleagues across the country to support clients as they navigate increasingly complex employment, safety and regulatory challenges.”

Managing Partner, James Macdonald commented on Mason’s appointment:

“Mason’s appointment represents an important step in the expansion of our national Employment Relations practice. The addition of Mason and his team strengthens the firm’s capability to support our clients through complex workforce and regulatory challenges in key markets across multiple jurisdictions.”

The expansion underscores Piper Alderman’s continued investment in its people, national platform and client service offering, ensuring the firm is well positioned to support employers with strategic, practical and commercially focused advice as workplace laws and regulatory expectations continue to evolve.
