Piper Alderman announces 16 promotions

13/12/2023

Piper Alderman is delighted to announce sixteen new year promotions across the firm, including 3 partners, 4 senior associates and 9 associates.

Our new partners will be Steven Pettigrove in Melbourne, in the Financial Services & Fintech team, Juniper Watson in Adelaide, in the Projects, Infrastructure & Construction team and Beau Weigand in Sydney, in the Dispute Resolution & Litigation team.

With an impressive career spanning 14 years, Steven Pettigrove has distinguished himself as a trusted legal advisor, with a primary focus on digital assets regulation and dispute resolution. Steven trained in London and Hong Kong, and has experience as a start-up founder. His clientele includes prominent financial institutions, fintechs, digital currency exchanges, startups, as well as venture capital funds.

Juniper Watson is an exceptional infrastructure and construction lawyer who has been a key advisor on some of the most significant energy, transport and defence projects in Australia. In the energy sector Juniper has worked on numerous high voltage transmission and connection projects (such as Project EnergyConnect and EP Link) and is currently working with the South Australian State government on the world-first Hydrogen Jobs Plan project in Whyalla. She has advised on major transport infrastructure projects including Torrens to Darlington (the largest road and tunnelling project in South Australia) and high speed rail signalling work in Queensland. Juniper is also a trusted advisor in the defence industry, having provided ongoing advice and legal assistance for critical projects such as development of naval infrastructure and sustainment and life-of-type extension of Collins-Class Submarines.

Beau Weigand has developed his reputation as a highly regarded legal practitioner specialising in commercial litigation and dispute resolution over his 15 years practising in the area. After a long and distinguished early career focussing on the litigious aspects of corporate and personal insolvency, since joining Piper Alderman in 2017, Beau has realigned his focus to high value, complex funded litigation, including class actions, both for representative plaintiffs and in defence of large multinational corporate clients.  Beau deftly guides his clients on intricate legal matters involving contract disputes, regulatory affairs and product liability claims, across diverse industries, including but not limited to automotive, energy, construction, pharmaceuticals, and health.

Managing Partner, Tony Britten-Jones commented:

These promotions signify Piper Alderman’s commitment to recognising and advancing the talents of its dedicated professionals, and we look forward to the continued success and contributions of Steven Pettigrove, Juniper Watson, Beau Weigand, and all our promoted colleagues in the coming year.
