Margot advises parties in property transactions including property developments, investments, sales and disposals and facilities management and leasing. Margot works across commercial, residential, retail and industrial and has a particular interest in urban renewal and infrastructure development, the student housing subsector and the emergence of the build-to-rent subsector in Australia.
Margot works on the property project cycle from start to finish, including inception, feasibility and tender, transaction negotiation and documentation and project implementation and compliance. She has extensive experience identifying project gap risks across interfaces with different stakeholders and has negotiated and drafted the full span of property project documents including project development agreements, joint venture agreements, shareholder and co-investment agreements, exclusivity agreements, contracts for sale of land, agreements for leases and leases and ancillary documents such as building management statements, consultancy agreements, side deeds, access and construction licences, easements and positive and restrictive covenants.
Highlights of Margot’s experience include working on the $6 billion Barangaroo South Project for Lendlease, the Lendlease deal with Crown Casinos on Barangaroo South and the $3.2 billion Parramatta Square urban renewal project for Walker Corporation. Margot’s breadth and depth of experience gives her a unique skill set to think laterally about issues, assess the importance of those issues and present practical solutions to clients. Margot understands the importance of relationship-building in undertaking long term projects and works to ensure clients and counterparties can achieve this with quality documentation as the foundation.
