57 Piper Alderman lawyers recognised in The Best Lawyers® in Australia 2026 edition, with 17 listed in ‘Ones to Watch’

Piper Alderman is delighted to announce that in the 2026 Edition of The Best Lawyers® in Australia, 57 of our lawyers have been named ‘Best Lawyer’ in acknowledgment of their exceptional contributions to the legal profession. 

An additional 17 of our lawyers have been named in the ‘Ones to Watch’ list, which recognises emerging talent and outstanding professional excellence in lawyers at the earlier stages of their careers. 

Piper Alderman has been recognised across 49 areas of law in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. A significant number of our lawyers have been highly regarded by their peers, reflecting the firm’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge legal expertise.

 This year, 3 Piper Alderman Partners have been named ‘Lawyer of the Year’ – an honour awarded to one outstanding lawyer per practice area across Australia. 

• Brisbane Partner Nick Burkett has been named ‘Lawyer of the Year’ for the second consecutive year. This year, he has been recognised for ‘Ethics and Professional Responsibility Practice’, 
• Adelaide Partner Mark Gordon, has been named ‘Lawyer of the Year’ for ‘Banking and Finance Law’, and 
• Adelaide Partner Martin Lovell has been named ‘Lawyer of the Year’ for ‘Project Finance and Development Law’.
